I’m Mario Reyes, I’m Professor of Finance and I would like to welcome you to the fantastic world of finance. In this finance module, you will learn about the finance function, like for example, you‘re gonna learn about the stock market, it’s importance to businesses and the personal financial management. You will also learn about careers in finance as well as the experiential learning opportunities at the University of Idaho.

One of the deliverables in the finance module is actually going to do a personal budget, which is one thing you will be doing when you start making your mucho bucks when you graduate from the University of Idaho. You will learn about how to set a budget, decide what your investment risk tolerance is, and maybe learn something about how to allocate the savings that you make from every paycheck that you receive every month two, three years from here.

After completing this module, I would hope that you will have a better appreciation of the role of financial management in everyday life, whether for work or for your own personal financial affairs. It is very, very important; not only business students should learn about finance, every student graduating from any university should know something about what to do when the dollars start coming in upon graduation. It may sound self-serving since I teach finance, but the fact is everyone has to manage their money once they graduate from here.
